The butter bell crock is best used with real butter (salted or unsalted). Margarine, ghee, whipped butter and clarified butter are not recommended.
Herbed butters are fine to store in the crock but the shelf life will be 3-5 days.

I am enjoying using my butter bell crock and because the butter is soft I am not using as much as it spreads very easily and thinly.
