Hi and welcome to our kitchen based in Gisborne on the beautiful East Coast of New Zealand!
After over a decade working with food as both an academic and within the food industry, I am passionate about helping you reduce food waste and get back to basics in the kitchen. One step at a time.
On this journey together, we can re-learn some traditional food preparation and preservation techniques that have largely been lost in today’s society. We can share ideas for dealing with our household food waste. And, we can encourage each other to take small sustainable steps that reduce our footprint on this earth. It’s always about progress, not perfection.
As food preservation is at the heart of reducing food waste, our online shop offers a range of preserving jars we know well and love (hello Ball, Le Parfait and Weck!). Alongside this we have a small range of items that are easy swaps for their plastic counterparts in the kitchen.
Reducing our reliance on convenience foods naturally reduces the amount of plastic we bring into our home. Our blog is a space to share recipes that will hopefully inspire others to cook more along with ideas for living more sustainably. As a family with school-aged children, you can expect to see lots of family favourite recipes, usually with healthier twists.
If this sounds like your kind of place, then please feel free to look around, sign up to our newsletter (we won’t spam you, we promise!) and join us on Instagram and Facebook. You can also follow our recipes and ideas on Pinterest by following our account.
From my Kiwi family to yours, welcome! I am so happy to have you here.
Warmest regards, Kylie
Note: As part of our commitment to bringing you high quality preserving jar systems, we are the exclusive distributors of Le Parfait in New Zealand. For wholesale inquiries, please get in touch.
